How the Azure Mobile Services .Net Backend works

Azure Mobile Services started out using a node.js backend for server scripting. Recently a .Net backend was added that enables you to code in C# instead of JavaScript. At first I thought all I had to do was to write my server code in C# instead of JavaScript, but there's more to it than that: the architecture is totally different, and the workflow is somewhat different. Here are some resources that explain the differences and dive into more detail.
